Android 4.4 with contactless card emulation?

An interesting note about the latest Android 4.4 appeared on one of the blogs:

Instead, Android might be able to emulate credit cards, transit passes, and secure entry badges in a more straight forward way.

Is this the beginning of the end of plastic in the wallet?

A virus communicating through a sound card…

A trusted third party published this little article today:

Hmm… points 1 and 2 sound somehow familiar. A few years ago, during a training, I described these methods; some people considered them fantasy back then.

DNS tunneling and ICMP tunneling have existed for years. I wonder when we will see data transmission through changes in a computer’s power consumption.

By the way, speakers are not required to generate sound ;-), but perhaps that is a topic for another time…

Windows Mobile 6.1 and a screen calibration problem

The screen on my favorite Windows Mobile 6.1 device became miscalibrated. At first glance, nothing major: go into screen settings and choose calibration.

However, after every calibration attempt, the screen returned to the previous screen and calibration started again…

Changing one registry entry helped:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\MaxCalError

from 7 to 200.

Found, of course, on the MoDaCo forum: http://www.modaco.com/topic/298247-screen-calibrate-in-loop/page__st__20
